Mindfulness Journal for Kids
Has your kiddo ever had an epic meltdown over something small, yelled at you for asking a simple question, or burst into tears because their toast wasn’t the correct shade of brown?
Most parents and caregivers can think of moments like these, and struggle to understand what’s happening with their child and all these big feelings. As adults, we can feel like we’re not doing something right and have our own yelling meltdowns too!
When kids become preoccupied with an embarrassing mistake they made, or worry about passing a hard test, these worries and fears can hijack their brains and negatively impact their days. Mindfulness is a researched-based tool that can lower stress and worry, and improve relationships, focus, and emotional regulation.
Instead of being stuck in “what happened” or worried about “what will happen”, mindfulness is simply about finding joy in the present moment. This book contains 100 mindfulness activities and prompts for kids ages 4-12.
The activities are broken up into six categories covering:
- Positive Relationships
- Growth Mindset
For younger children who are not yet fluent readers or writers, caregivers or therapists can discuss the prompts together, and children can draw out their answers. For children who are fluent readers and writers, they can write or draw their answers either with help or independently.
